Mortise & Tenon with Ebony Pinning

Mortise & Tenon joinery with ebony pinning is one of the strongest, most durable ways to join two pieces of wood together. While no joinery will last forever, this method comes close.

Mortise and tenon joinery consists of a tenon (or tongue) cut to fit tightly into a mortise (hole) in mating pieces of lumber. The joint is further strengthened by driving a diamond-shaped ebony pin through the joint, creating Salem Board & Beam's distinctive signature design.
