A Unique Line of Furniture Based Upon the Simplicity of Traditional Design.

About Us

Salem Board and Beam has created a unique line of furniture based upon the simplicity of traditional design. Our furniture is crafted primarily from reclaimed lumber and salvaged local hardwood trees. The wood most frequently used in these pieces is American Chestnut, cherry, black walnut and spalted maple. We are committed to the conservation of the natural resources in our forests today and to the restoration of the American chestnut tree. Custom work is welcomed.

Philosophy

By dismantling barns, homes and other outbuildings built between 1600’s and 1800’s, we can provide a second life for otherwise forgotten wood and help to conserve the natural resources in our forest today.

Not only are you assisting in the conservation of existing forests, you’re giving a tree harvested in the pre-Civil War era a second life in your home.

Each distinct piece is accompanied with a historical account of the structure or tree from which the wood was salvaged.

Conservation

By purchasing a piece of furniture from one of Salem Board & Beam’s Barn Series not only are you assisting in the conservation of existing forests, you are giving a tree harvested in the pre-civil war era a second life in your home.
The majority of the hardwoods utilized in our furniture are salvaged from antique New England structures as well as unwanted hardwood trees scheduled for removal.

We create truly unique and lasting furniture. Quality materials forested centuries ago and traditional craftsmanship forge the distinct nature and inherent value in Salem Board & Beam’s furniture.

Our company was created to service the desire in us all to be put in touch with our heritage and feel a link to simpler times. Welcome a slice of early American history into your home with a truly unique piece from one of the Salem Board & Beam Barn Series.
